That dark hole that can swallow us up as we fall deeper and deeper into the depths of repeating negative patterns of behavior. Those cravings that may over take the spirit that so wants to come out of the darkness. Dealing with the depression that can set in after we have fallen into the mouths of our personal demons.
I have for years struggled with a food addiction that has had a mind of it's own speaking to me in the middle of The Silent Night. Waking up from a night mare where my world is turned upside down with an image of growing in size no matter what I do. The Silent Night filled with running until my heart feels like it is pounding out of chest and about to burst! Sweating profusely with the feeling of boiling over like a pot on the stove as I slip into deeper dreams.
As a person who has lost 100 pounds, I understand the power of an inner pull that can rise up in the soul at any given time. That inner voice that can play the evil trick of singing a sour song of clanging tones with no lyrical cadence. That all too familiar sound of self discipline silenced.
Close your eyes this Silent Night..."close your eyes with words unspoken...let me whisper what is on my mind...this Silent Night". Do not despair, my friend. Unlock the silence and then unlock The Silent Night. Rise up out of bed that next morning with a feeling of power and determination. Find the will in yourself to face those addictive demons with a vengeance. Know that a positive silently awaits you. Know that you have the power to free yourself from those chains that bind you and float away in the Silent Night with that urgency to silence the negativity that may often gobble you up whole!

Here is a song by me to you at a tempo of 128 beats per minute to motivate you to take control and drift off this Silent Night with a new found spirit.

Hear the music, feel the beat and Never Stop Movin' in your body and in your life!

MARINA

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/124-BPM-TheSilentNight.mp3Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-78001856709127794472009-11-24T10:08:00.001-05:002009-11-24T10:09:44.781-05:00Come on down to my Drive Thru!Come on down to my Drive Thru!

In these current times of fast food restaurants, the rate of obesity is growing. Portion sizes have continued to mount up, with our waist lines following closely by. Sodas that were human size are now large enough to quench our thirsts for a week. Hamburgers, sandwiches and french fries that are a single serving, according to the menus, are plentiful enough to feed 2 people. What is it about our culture that has put this into place? Why are we the only country in the world with this frame of reference in terms of what should be on our plate? Our younger generation is growing up with this food point of reference being the norm.

The idea of large, super size and glutinous eating is a source of trouble for us all. The rise of health care cost lay primarily on the rise of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and make for a country filled with compromised immune systems.

Walking, running or any cardio activity sure helps, however, the commitment to staying focused on proper food portions is where it is at. Nutritional guide lines are slowly being put into place on many of our favorite fast food menus but has this come too late. Has our own point of view in terms of what is in that paper wrapped sandwich gotten out of hand?

Protein amount should be the size of one's fist. One cup of green vegetables. Ok, ok, if you have to eat those french fries, order the small. Who needs a large? If you get a large french fries share it with someone.

Come on down to "my" DriveThru! I got something to share. Roll down that window and come to my drive thru. A place where I will always encourage you to watch your portions. A place where I will share with you fitness pointers and motivate you to Never Stop Movin'! A place where you can hear the music and feel the beat and lead a healthier way of life.

Stay well and as always...

Never Stop Movin'!

M

Click here for my song "Drive Thru"Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-15930905891905867392009-10-07T12:27:00.009-04:002009-10-15T17:21:49.406-04:00Fight Obesity with at home musical fitness "edutainment" Holla! At a time of economic and global uncertainty, the idea of fighting the battle-of-the-bulge may feel like an unnecessary burden. Gym memberships may not be in your radar during the face to face combat of paying those daily bills. Treadmill workouts, elliptical machines, spinning may not be your priority of the day. Needing to soothe oneself is at an all time high making the "high" in the evening more important than anything else. Yes, yes, I know, "pick your poison". What happened to the old time idea of sharing ourselves and feelings with family?

The idea of staying home and making life's daily motions convenient has never been more important or palatable for families. Finding stay at home "edutainment" ideas that can make us feel filled with energy and positiveness. Time spent with your spouse and the kids may start with the music. Walk or run in place while you spend time together eye ball to eye ball talking and sharing your day's events. Raise up that voice and "holla!". Get closer to one another. Does family time have to be around a dinner table? Can't it be by simply looking at each other and helping to achieve a healthy sense of self? Yes... spending time together as a family can be good for your health! Simple lifestyle changes such as movement are always spoken about. How about putting them into motion literally. Stretch, relaxation exercises, abdominal work can all be done together. Go ahead and complain while you do it. Why not? Misery loves company as the expression goes. No pain no gain, Honey! Keep that energy moving in your body and in your life.
Pop on that track and never stop movin!

Hear the music... feel the beat.... @126 beats per minute and HOLLA!

Click here for my song Holla!

Marina Kamen aka MARINA
MARINA's High-nrg Fitness Music & Workouts

Blog search directory

Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-83633351323601484762009-09-18T10:11:00.001-04:002009-09-18T10:21:58.699-04:00At a Time of Paper Houses... You Can Count On Me!Never has there been a time of more uncertainty than now. Those of us that were born during the 50s and 60s have always held out hope for the future. College, marriage, children, career are all areas that we have assumed would be part of our path. Not so fast! These days with the economy and health care costs crumbling down around us our lives are starting to feel more like paper houses falling rather than wind at our backs. The wind that we thought would push along through life may currently feel like a tornado that is bound to blow away our paper houses in our minds destroying what we are attempting to create around us.

Working on our health and fitness is something that if given the blessing of no underlying issues can give us a feeling of control. No, we cannot always control those outside sources of government spending or extenuating circumstance, however, we can grab hold of our health by taking a walk or stretching in the morning. How about lying on the floor while listening to some great music and working on those abs. Oh yes, having access to a treadmill is always good but simply popping on those headphones and taking a walk is sure to leave you filled with vitality and a more positive attitude for the day.

You can count on me! As a mom of 3 kids that was born in the late 50s, I have seen much. As a person who has lost 100 pounds, I have tapped into feelings of empowerment and self worth. You can count on me to be there with music and words of passion. You can count on me for encouragement and that extra gentle push. You can count on me to be there when the wind has blown down that paper house knowing how you feel.

my song to you...
You Can Count On Me!

M

MARINA's High-nrg Fitness - Music & WorkoutsMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-73485483399687035092009-07-22T16:32:00.002-04:002009-08-20T15:46:30.866-04:00Small On Cash But Large On Weight?... "You Need What I Have" For Only 99 CentsWith the state of the economy being in a shambles, obesity seems to be on the rise in this country. Why? Well, maybe it is because people are turning to less expensive food alternatives that do not always carry the highest nutritional value. Maybe it is because gym memberships are not a priority in one's budget restraints. Maybe it is because many of us turn to food to soothe ourselves when times get tough. Excuses? Well... good excuses, I think. These are difficult times for most out there. Yea.. me too!

As a woman who has had 3 children and has lost 100 pounds, I understand how easy it is to turn to food but how hard it is to loose those pounds that seem to creep onto our bodies so quickly. I also understand getting into shape as well as weight control and the cost that can go along with it.

Most foods that we know are better for us than junk food can sometimes be met with a pretty hefty price tag. Fresh organic vegetables... lean fish and meats... along with that gym membership and or with that personal trainer can add dollars to your monthly budget. Who can afford that?

How about the idea that with the internet right at our finger tips we can find a bunch of what we need for a fraction of the cost. This is certainly true of what is available out there to keep us motivated to move!

As a singer songwriter/ recording artist I started to license much of my music to the fitness community in the late 90s. Jazzercise... Dynamix... these companies have carried my music for years. In 2004, with the birth of Podcasting... I had an idea! How about merging the worlds of music together with that of a fitness trainer's vocal instruction and help people get into shape right at home for very little money. Instead of a personal trainer who comes with an hourly price tag... how about simply offering a large selection of downloadable workout programs for only 99 cents a piece. How about the idea of staying motivated while at home in the privacy of you own living room. For those that have a piece of equipment such as a Treadmill... music and workout programs at your finger tips are invaluable. For those of you that have no equipment.. how about the idea of walking or running in place!... of course...walking or running outside is always great. Whatever the choice, the concept remains the same.

Why pay lots of money to get into shape? Why should being over weight come with a large price tag..... start with the music... the voice... the encouragement and motivation for just pennies?

Take a cardio Musical Health moment and move to this song from MARINA's High-nrg Fitness Music & Workouts at 135 beats per minute.

Are you short on cash and need to loose weight and get into shape... I do believe... Thank goodness for the old premise of misery loves company. There is a feeling of soothing to know that we are not alone. That most people out there currently are feeling the stress and pinch of our modern day state of affairs. The feeling of moving forward or "Living in Motion" is certainly being tested at this moment in time for most.... certainly for me.

Movement and physical activity can not only help you in terms of your health and weight but can also help to heal your emotions. Putting on a great song that moves your heart and taps into your emotions can lift your spirit. Even a song that brings you to tears while you are on a treadmill or just taking a walk can help you stay in touch with your feelings enabling you to move forward.

This is my philosophy.... "Livin' in Motion"... Never Stop Movin'!.... roll with the punches (.... ha,ha, one of my favorite lines from Jerry Maguire). All those cliches that we hear everyday are there for a reason. To give us hope to keep on keepin on!

As a person that has lost 100 pounds and constantly struggles to keep my weight and health in check, I understand the pitfalls of staying on the wagon. Financially as a mom of 3 kids I am tackling the never ending cycle of trying to keep my head above water financially.

This is why I write music for health & fitness. For while I hope to help others I am also helping myself at the same time. I appreciate all of you who read my material...listen to my voice and music. This is what helps keep me "Livin' in Motion".

Here is a song by me for you! At a tempo of 140 beats per minute...take some time for own Musical Health!

Walk... run... bop in place...as long as you Never Stop Movin!

Marina Kamen aka MARINA

Click here for my song "Livin' In Motion"

web:
MarinaOnline.comMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-24117075375041342492009-04-21T15:08:00.002-04:002009-08-20T15:48:01.601-04:00Feel The Power of 50! w/Musical Health by MARINA!As a 50 year old mother of 3 kids that has lost 100 pounds while redirecting my commercial music business in early 2001 to include composing music for the health & fitness communities, I feel that one is never too late to go for any goal.

In this time of economic uncertainty, most people... experts.... masters of any trade are being tested. Being able to make a left hand turn at middle age is becoming more and more common. Going for a career that might have been compromised for any reason during life is no longer unusual.

They say 50 is the new 40. Yes... I agree. With good health and medical attention 50 years old can be the start of your life with you being only half way there.

We all have talents... maybe still untapped. I say GO For It!

Here is a bit of Musical Health motivation to get you going in mind and spirit. Walk... run.. or do any cardio activity you might choose. Even if you are sitting in a chair I urge you to inhale and exhale to the beat to experience Musical Health.

Enjoy and as always...

Never Stop Movin'!

M

Click HERE for my free song "Feel The Power"

For over 1,200 Music & Fitness workout download choices go to:
MARINA's High-nrg Fitness websiteMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-89605311261541825372009-03-24T07:59:00.002-04:002009-08-20T15:48:38.526-04:00Say the words still "Unspoken w/Musical HealthHow many of us go through our days feeling like the weight of the world is on our shoulders? Doesn't matter what age, what stage of life... we often feel like nothing we do may ever really count or amount to anything. Why continue to dream or have goals when everyday we put on the news to hear about more disasters or the futility of our own purpose. Simple. Keep it simple. Maybe that is all it is.

Hear that inner voice, you know, the one that speaks to you in the back of your head. Breath... take that breath of life... movement... maybe the "Unspoken" words that make up our own feelings are enough. Listen to those feelings. They have no IQ, they are your feelings...valid!

Surrender to them and validate "you!"

Do not leave "you!". Take a deep breath... inhale through your nose... exhale through your mouth. Keep breathing. I know the truth now, let me tell you!" After living for "half a century", as my three kids so gently put it, I have had to balance all the ingredients that we refer to as having it all in the American Dream. Family... career.... marriage... oh yes... and of course staying on a path of healthy life style living. Easier said than done. Too often do I end the day with a feeling of lack of accomplishment, feeling paralyzed and unable to see how things will get better. Oh, I do that inner dialogue of telling myself that I am doing great! After all, I am a mom, a wife, I have lost 100 pounds! Wow! all good stuff. However, I do fall off the wagon putting back on those 15 pounds that on my 5 foot 3 inch frame feels like a ton! "Get on that treadmill girl and give me 3 miles... drop on that floor and give me 100 crunches"... EEEEK!!! "try not to pop those cookies in your mouth as you pass the jar on the counter and certainly portion out that glass of wine that you have become aware of having as the late afternoon arrives.

As a singer/songwriter and musician who has spent the last decade writing music aimed at the fitness community, the thought of lyric motivation in addition to a beat is the musical marriage that I hope has reached many of you. Like you I too struggle with the everyday battle that has most of us uncertain about our futures. Career blocks with feelings that I might never achieve goals set out for since childhood. Here is a bit of advice. Here is a lyric to ponder.... "Don't Quit! you're gonna get it... got to be in it to win it... you're the best don't you forget it... Don't Quit no, no!"

Check out the link below.... at a tempo of 100 beats per minute it is a perfect pace to work out to for your musical health... so... drop and give me twenty crunches while you listen! :)

Click here for my song "Don't Quit"

For over 1,200 Musical Fitness programs to download go to....

MARINA's Audio Workout CenterMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-68348301545576546012009-03-03T09:46:00.002-05:002009-08-20T15:50:19.288-04:00Walk it Off at the Mall! With the economy insecure and health issues on the rise, walking for entertainment has never been needed as much as it is right now. Why not? Why not make your physical fitness moments those that are not at a gym or on a treadmill but times that can also come with plenty of eye candy. How about the idea that on a cold or rainy day you may find yourself strutting to a beat complete with headphones on your head as you bop by your favorite windows. Maybe you just walked by a fabulous candle store complete with a yummy scent that screams..." light a candle when you get home and relax in a bath to a new oil lamp aroma."
Oh yes... our local Malls of America. Long and wide hallways dripping with fun. Distraction! Letting your imagination go wild as you walk on past those windows dressed up with stiletto heels or swish by those latest trend sneakers. Money is an issue at this time? That's ok! Whether it be soliciting potential clients, customers or merely connecting with people of similar interests and passions.... it's all about marketing oneself and one's personal ideas, isn't it?

So much of social networking has become a battle grounds of do and don'ts, rules and stopping that potential "spam" artist from rearing it's ugly head. The art of blogging and conditional giving on the internet is something to be mastered. After all, "what is one person's garbage is another one's fortune."

I say "it's all good!" Work for your goal using all the tools at hand. Being a 50 year old mother of 3 kids, learning how to maneuver around the internet and research, connect, this is what we have been taught to do since our early childhood education in the library with those wooden draws holding index cards. Oye!.... Researching, improving, achieving, right?

Shake it up! That's my philosophy! In both body & spirit. After you have worked your mind and powered those finger tips on a keyboard reaching out to those around you, take a few minutes to work that body for your own personal musical health. Stay in touch and reach out to YOU! You deserve it!

As a person who has lost 100 pounds, I write and sing this song for you to walk... run... or simply
"bop on out" right at your computer.

At at tempo of 132 beats per minute, click link below and come on Shake to My Philosophy!

Click here for my song "My Philosophy"

verse#1:

Keep this in mind
in time you're gonna find
come on and give a try
to My Philosophy
Take every single day
to find a better way
come on along and play
My Philosophy

Come on over
and open up yourself
let's start a fire
we're going to get there
high and higher

Chorus:

come on try it
don't deny it
come on Shake with My Philosophy
come on show it
don't you blow it
flying high with My Philosophy

verse#2:

come on and take the time
to have a real good time
and let me blow your mind
with My Philosophy
come on and live your life
no care or strife
that's right!
that's My Philosophy

workout music by MARINAMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-40758114436310887232009-02-10T13:40:00.003-05:002009-08-20T15:51:30.138-04:00Are You Ready To Seize the Day? .... "Carpe Diem!"As a 50 year old working mother who has lost 100 pounds and has three children now ages 15, 17 & 22, I am now more than ever on a mission to promote the importance of education.

Musical "edutainment" is where I have been focusing my attention while writing, recording and producing Health & Fitness programming. Who does not want to be entertained? Aren't we more likely to focus in on a subject when it is presented to us in an entertaining fashion?

I recently wrote a song called "Carpe Diem" at a tempo of 162 beats per minute for cardio activities. Take a listen to it and do something good for your health as you listen. Walk, run or do any cardio activity you might choose. You can even simply just get up and walk in place right at your computer!... the lyric reads...

Chorus:
Come on are you ready to seize the day?
No matter what they say
getting it your own way
come on and take it now.
let me remind you
let go the chains that bind you
you're going to get there
come one let yourself go!

Making the most of your life and opening up your mind to new situations everyday. Kind of like Walkin' in a Sandy Jungle... you've got to pivot your soul. Much like walking on a sandy beach where you actually have to physicalize pivoting your sole, literally. I think it was Bob Dylan who sang "..... swim with the fishies or sink like a stone". Now it is more true than ever. Multi tasking, switching gears. You can do it! You are a star chamber, always remember your goals, let them flow and always know you can do it. There will always be natural instability. After all, you are only a mortal..... so there are times when you've got to pivot your soul. Now, wait a minute... when I say pivot I mean sensor your plans and lose all demands on yourself..... don't let it get you. Do something fun. Maybe go out to a club and let it get in your blood.... your personal secret weapon.

Yes, yes..... as a musical fitness recording artist who is a mom of 3 kids and has lost 100 pounds, I practice what I preach. I start most days with a walk or a run. Even if I do nothing else, I simply pop on my head phones right at my computer as I write and walk in place as I do so. Certainly checking emails to see what maneuvering I will have to do to get out of the way of that day's problem. Ah yes, much like walking in the streets here in NYC is much like Walkin' in a Sandy Jungle... you got to pivot your soul... or sole, if you will, to avoid the pot holes... crowds.... construction overhead.

Well... take a break from it all. Take a deep breath and do something good for you! Try it! Pop on those headphones and check out this song from me to you. At a tempo of 92 beats per minute, you can walk in place slowly or double it up to get a quick beat and boost of energy as you keep on with your day Walkin' in your own Sandy Jungle!

Stay well and always remember to....

Never Stop Movin'!

M

Click here for my song "Walkin' In a Sandy Jungle"

Fitness music by MARINAMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-70824219688869981882009-02-03T14:06:00.003-05:002009-08-20T15:53:06.649-04:00Put A Little Bounce In Your Step!As the days go on with more of the same gloom and doom information coming over the air waves regarding our economy... I have decided to dish out a bit of positive energy. Put a little Bounce in Your Step! Oh, I don't just mean in terms of physically. Now as a mom of 3 kids who has lost 100 pounds writing and producing over 400 songs for the fitness community, I do encourage you to walk... run... or do any cardio activity you might choose daily. Well.. how about emotionally? Not easy these days, I know. Not easy to feel that bounce and light hearted feeling when everyday we are seeing those around us that have lost their jobs or others who are hanging on by the skin of their teeth waiting for that pink slip.

Try this. Stand up right at your computer. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth... feet are hip's width apart... weight is forward on the balls of your feet... drop those shoulders... abdominals in and up! Ahhhh!!!! Think about it! The mere fact that you could just do what I asked should give you an energetic lift. Do I sound too idealistic?... a bit insipid? Ha!... well maybe.

Positiveness! Pass it on. Help each other. Bounce it along. Do something good for you. Smile.... keep swinging the bat..... pass this onto a friend then pop on those head phones... click link below and get on up.... walk in place right at your computer while you put a little Bounce in Your Step!

Enjoy and as always...

Never Stop Movin'!

M

Click here for my song "Put A Little Bounce In Your Step"Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-33966276073971538142009-02-02T10:00:00.005-05:002009-08-20T15:54:13.916-04:00Please... client me on and be "Forever My Friend!"I look around and everywhere I go people are going through some of the toughest personal challenges that they have ever had in their lives. Economic fears that are overwhelming. When things happen like this and we get pushed against the wall it unfortunately can make the worst come out in us rather that the best. The "every man for himself" attitudes rise to the surface of many that normally would never consider making certain choices now confronting them and affecting their behavior. Perhaps it is as simple as pushing someone in line and behaving like wild animals as we saw demonstrated in X-mas 2008 at the Walmart early morning sale. People trampling others just to save a few bucks on a toy for their kids that they could not afford at regular price. Maybe it is a simple as little lies that we tell in order to get that job or acquire that college loan.
Being a co-business owner of Kamen Entertainment Group, Inc. NYC since 1987 together with my husband, we have had hundreds of employees over the past 22 years. I am satisfied in knowing that we have over this past period of time given jobs to many deserving young people who are on their path to careers they have prepared for. We have fired a few... a few have left for personal reasons.
As a mother who has 3 children who is watching my oldest plunging into the work force after graduating from Columbia University, I am seeing up close the pain young people are going through.
How scary to know that even with a great college degree the American Dream may not come so fast.... rather it is starting to feel like a dream already dreamed and now woken up from.
"It's just business... nothing personal". Oh really now!.... eeek! How unrealistic.
As a small business owner these words lay heavy... cruel and untrue. It is difficult for me not to get personally involved. We are suppose to be civilized people caring for one another. Well... is that not what we hear from our politically correct television spokes people? Easier said than done, huh? It cuts both ways. I am sorry to say that the loyalty that I once saw in business from the client side has been tested. No one's fault. For client to supplier... supplier to client... we are all up against the wall having to make these tough choices. That once upon a time cocktail after work or taking that client to lunch thing is quickly disappearing. Nothing lasts forever. I will say, on a personal note, that there are a few of you out there that go to bat for others whenever you can, even now. In these hard times, this is an uplifting gift enveloped in a generous spirit. You know who you are.
As a singer/songwriter who has lost 100 pounds writing and performing music for the health & fitness industry, I encourage you to experience Musical Health! So... at a tempo of 95 beats per minute (bpm) take a minute to stretch... do some ab work... or simply sit up straight and inhale and exhale as I sing to you....
come on.... carry me on and be Forever my Friend!"

Never Stop Movin'!

M

Click here for my song "Forever My Friend"Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-32437567668649760592009-01-30T10:31:00.001-05:002009-08-20T15:54:55.623-04:00Open your heart... "Heaven" spins around you!At a time in our country when so many people are experiencing problems economically, the desire to reach out to spiritual alternatives is growing greater and stronger everyday. Even people like myself who are not particularly religious have been grasping for something to make sense out of this difficult time in our culture. I envy those folks who are able to tap into their own religious beliefs and bring themselves a feeling of comfort.
I recently saw the movie "Doubt" which brought up all types of questions in my own mind. God?... is one there?... is there indeed corruption within our clergy? In addition to that film, could that image of a Rabbi caught on camera by a television news camera where he was posing as a 13 year old on a social network to meet other teenagers actually be happening? Now... these are not the reasons for my personal questions regarding the reality of religion for me… however... it certainly has helped to perpetuate my own "doubt".
Being a mom of three who has lost 100 pounds preaching musical health and vocalizing my opinions to the health & fitness communities... Oh… how I would like to believe. The peace that I see on faces of children and families on Sunday mornings as they leave church all scrubbed and clean in their Sunday best. The memories I have as a young child sitting next to my father in temple during the Jewish holidays. Women in those dark suites complete with pocket books and gloves with their pursed lips and private grin. The sounds of choral voices from both sectors that I have had the opportunity to sing with through out my own life as a singer. The music. I love the music... but to be a believer?... that is something different.
For this reason I have written the song called "Heaven" at 132 beats per minute. Upon writing this song... I popped on my Ipod headphones and walked through the streets of New York City with the car horns and thousands of people spinning around me... but they made not a sound. All I could here was the merger of choral voices streamed together with a trance like dance beat which every one of my foot steps walked to. The music wrapping around me like a blanket. What a feeling! Please... make me a believer!
Take a listen... try it...no matter what you believe... move your body to experience Musical Health.
No matter what you are choosing... walking... running... spinning... etc... inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth... heal your mind and body with this song from me to you.
Open your heart... Heaven spins around you!

Stay well…

...and as always... in body and spirit...

Never Stop Movin'!

M

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/132-BPM-Heaven.mp3Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-55926974387468502072009-01-28T10:22:00.001-05:002009-08-20T15:55:25.964-04:00Depression, go away.... "Today I Believe!”“How many million times do we say the same old line it really blows my mind... you know it! Now, it's not a crime it's just a waste of time, now here is the reason why. Excuses, that is the same old reason… let's all attack... grab on this is the season... I'll take you there... a place that's warm and tender so here we go… let me show you the way. Today's the day... I know... nothing can stand in our way! I do believe that!”
These are lyrics I have written to my song available at the bottom of this blog to motivate you to do any form of cardio today. At a tempo of 132 beats per minute, use it to stimulate your body and your mind. In these hard times of economic and vocational loss, obesity and the overwhelming rise in health care costs, we all need to believe and help each other as much as we can.
So many people have been writing to me for advice on how to stay motivated with their fitness commitments and targeted weight loss goals. Now more than ever it is too easy to fall off the health & fitness wagon due to feelings of depression where the world is concerned. Maybe you just lost your job... or maybe you have had to relocate your family and pack up a house lost and put your kids in a new school. All the pressure that comes along with our current stressful state of our Nation is not exactly the cheerleader we all need to keep us on point.
Try this today... say... "Today I Believe!" Reach out to those around you. Oh yes... I understand the emotional paralyses that may come with getting that pink slip at work.
That's ok... Alchemy!.... sometimes disappointment can lead to greater things in life. Remember what you we were taught as kids.... "Use your time wisely!" See?... you are on the internet with the ability to reach out to people all over the world... How Fabulous!!! Help each other. We are all going through this together... not that it will immediately pay your phone bill... however... one never knows what is around the corner. Keep on keepin' on! Jump out of bed... get those fingers on that keyboard as you type away today... then get on up and move... or simply inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth and say those words..... "Today I Believe!"

Stay well and as always...

Never Stop Movin'!

M

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/132-BPM-TodayIBelieve.mp3Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-49780739541892274272009-01-27T10:58:00.001-05:002009-08-20T15:56:07.417-04:00"Food-a-Holics... are you Hiding in the Shadows?"My name is MARINA and I am a Food-a-Holic! Well... to those of you that struggle with any addiction, you know all too well that the first step is to say these words openly to yourself before you can attack the problem head on. Oh sure... maybe you are one, like myself, that manages to get up every morning and perform at peak performance no matter what that is. A job... being a parent... making those sandwiches packed in a nice brown paper bag that you hand the kids before you drive them off to school.
Now you might say... "food?... certainly not the same as being addicted to booze or pills." To that I say... hmm... yeah it is. To those of us that have food being our drug of choice... with overeating being triggered by all those addictive buttons... this remains our illness.
Not all buttons that are pushed are always from a negative situation. As a self proclaimed food-a-holic, I have found that the excuse to give into my addiction may be stimulated by something fun or wonderful! A happy event... see... to those of us that are burdened with this over weight thing, we pig out when we are sad and we pig out when we are happy. Everything is a party!
Take a deep breath. Honesty to you! For most of the time we want to hide from problems. All problems. That desire to just curl up in a ball in bed armed with that box of chocolate chip cookies and hide from ourselves. Hiding in the Shadows. Know that you are not alone in these feelings. There are so many of us out there. That is the beauty and grace of being able to write... social network... share with others and know that there are millions of people that are torn by their own addictions whatever they may be.
Do something positive for you today. Hear my voice... I am here... write to me too. As I have stated to you before, I thank you all for being at my fingertips. I thank you all for lending your ears to my words both in text as well as in music and song.
At a tempo of 90 beats per minute, this song is for all of you! As my lyrics sing.... "searching for yourself alone, you've been Hiding In the Shadows... don't you go and hide there no more... for I am here! Always!

Stay well and remember...

Never Stop Movin'!

M
http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/090-BPM-HidingInTheShadows.mp3

workout music MARINAMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-26750905941008399382009-01-26T11:44:00.002-05:002009-08-20T15:57:01.071-04:00Come take a walk... and "I'll Entertain You!"Come take a walk with me then we can talk together...and I'll entertain you. It can be a lonely road you've traveled so far with your fitness program... let me Entertain You... let's go walking off together so far... and I'll Entertain You!
This is my "mantra"! For the wordage I hear everywhere I go is... "I do not like to exercise...it is so boring!"
So that is what I have made my job... musical fitness entertainment. No, no... not just fitness trying to be entertaining... but writing and producing entertainment or "edutainment" product to present fitness... it's a different way of thinking.
After losing 100 pounds in my late 30's back in 1997, I started to work with countless companies and products out there where I sit with people in development watching them scratching their heads on how to make a gadget entertaining. Now look, there are certainly products and gadgets that can be very effective. There are also plenty of experts in fitness with great knowledge who are brought to the table in these meetings for their thoughts on how to take that gadget and give it moves and maybe even put music under it.
Let's face it.... with cardio in particular, you do not need an instruction guide once you have found the "on & off" switch... or the miles per hour arrow. It is all about repetition and being distracted and entertained long enough to stay with whatever cardio activity you are doing. Stay on it long enough to burn a calorie. But the problem is even 10 minutes of cardio can seem like a lifetime if you are bored.
Music at the proper tempo and proper intent is vital. Get the repetitive move you are making to stay at a repetitive pumping pace can make all the difference. This goes for all levels of fitness. Now, combine that with "lyrics" that tap into your heart; that have a message directed at what you are doing. Let's take that up a notch and combine voice over... "musical health talk" if you will... where instead of the verse being sung... it comes out with music still going as I speak to you regarding different subjects in health. Perhaps there is as an expert in a given field we are talking about that joins me. Make no mistake... I am not talking about just putting music underneath that is an after thought. I am suggesting the song be about the subject at hand being spoken about that day at that workout. A weave... mini-musicals that incorporate a story and an issue. The chorus always kicking in with full vocals incorporating lyrics of that message where we get that extra push and energy rush.
This is the approach that I have worked endlessly to write and produce over the past 13 years since losing my 100 pounds. As a singer/songwriter, vocalist and instrumentalist, this is how I stay on target. As I enter my recording studio each day... with not an idea in sight... I let my mind go to a subject matter that I feel is relevant to many of you. Then I develop beats at a proper tempo for the activity at hand... start writing lyrics... start laying down my vocal parts... violin lines.... orchestrations. From there, after the song is written and recorded... I pop out those verse vocals and speak with you as I "edutain" on the subject I am also singing to you about.
So you see... as you… run.... rebound... do elliptical... or do any cardio activity you might choose, I'll Entertain you!
Come on!... take a walk with me then we can talk together... and "I'll Entertain you!".
Pop on those headphones and enjoy this one by me to you....

Enjoy and as always...

Never Stop Movin'!

M

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/126-BPM-EntertainYou.mp3

MARINAMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-50613757520853170782009-01-23T10:18:00.003-05:002009-08-20T15:57:38.310-04:00Self?... don't you get Lost Along The Way!How many of us who are trying to balance home... work... family and our health ever stop and think.... "Where did "I" go?”... Who is this person that I now don't recognize? With all the things that we do, especially us working moms, we often forget who we were before we grew up... maybe got married... maybe had kids. I ask.... "who were you when you were young?" What were the dreams and goals that have been compromised now in order to attempt to have it all? The American dream, honey!
Being a person who has lost 100 pounds and juggles home, work, family & fitness and gets written to by countless people around the country dealing with their obesity struggle I have seen this time and time again; women who have lost their own sense of self. This often tends to make them candidates who struggle the hardest with addictions.... food addiction being at the front of the pack. These women who often lose this sense of self where food becomes their whole world, forever planning events around what the cuisine will be rather than what the actual event is. Women who too often surround themselves with others who are also getting "Lost Along The Way." After all, as the saying goes, "misery loves company"!
This is a time when there are many varying choices in our country of types of families... options to young women who may get pregnant at a young age. As wonderful as having all this choice is, it also can bring complications to these young women. Maybe not finishing school.... there fore not being able to go for a better job... which in turn may lead to poverty which often goes hand in hand with obesity. The inexpensive fast food choices that are affordable have certainly left a food-a-holic blemish on so many.... especially young moms. Don't get me wrong. Plenty of fantastic young moms and dads who's hearts are in the right place. However... being able to juggle it all looks good on paper... but how does one do that exactly. There are never enough hours in the day or energy left at the end of an exhausting day to stay tapped into one's dream let alone have the time or desire to keep going for it. Time... money... energy.... gumption.... oye! Help!
This may help. Take time for you. No matter where you are or how difficult things might seem, "YOU" matter the most!
Taking care of your health is primo! Even just sitting for a few minutes with eyes closed... sitting up with straight back... shoulders down and back... chin down. Inhale and exhale and think about you! Let your mind wander and drift into a sweet spot of memory and hope. If you can do that... take it to another level. No time? Well... do this. Stand at your computer and walk in place to this one... or simply stay in your chair and bop to the beat. At a tempo of 160 beats per minute (bpm), hear my voice while I sing to you these words...
"I want to stay with you forever... as long as we are both together. It does not matter who is right… oh no... just keep that vision in your sight!"
You see as I tell you most everyday... I am like you. I too need that push and that motivation. Being able to write to you and create music for you to stay on your health & fitness path in turn helps me too! I thank you for that.... so...hear what I say..."self?... don't you get Lost Along The Way!"

Now come on and break that sweat...and as always...

Never Stop Movin'!

M

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/160-BPM-LostAlongTheWay.mp3

Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-44576303692969229442009-01-22T10:21:00.002-05:002009-08-20T15:58:12.664-04:00Hard Working moms... Fragile!... aren't we?Being a 50 year old working mother of three children now aged 15, 17 & 22, I remember all too well the conflict of going back to work after my first son was born in 1986. Oh my! I was never at peace. When I was home I felt I was slacking with my work responsibilities and when I was at work I missed my baby boy. I have learned as the years have moved on that we women are certainly the stronger sex. We have the ability to juggle it all. Home... work... family... oh yes... and look fabulous all at the same time.
My advice is to give yourself a break. There is nothing wrong with your feelings no matter how crazy you feel at times. I have found that some of the best kids have been raised by working moms. Women who maintain a career also maintain a strong sense of self. This can enable a woman to bring a more logical approach into parenting especially as a child gets older and matures. The woman who has spent time outside the home and deals with the real world on a day to day basis may be better prepared to catch the left hooks that may be thrown at us. Parenting is never a fairy tail. I love a line I heard in the film Parenting."...Life is messy" ... ha, ha...LOL... ain't it the truth.
As a fitness singer songwriter and someone who has maintained a 100 pound weight loss, I also find that a daily workout is a great way to clear your mind. Try this... sit up straight... inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth... drop those shoulders... relax your neck and take a minute to stretch. At a tempo of 90 beats per minute here is a song I wrote/sung called "Fragile". Aren't we all? Yes... but oh how strong we ladies and moms can be!

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/090-BPM-Fragile.mp3

Enjoy and as always...

Never Stop Movin'!

MMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-9015866720831777672009-01-21T10:58:00.001-05:002009-08-20T15:58:59.543-04:00"The New Kid?... please... not that!"How many of us watched as our 44th President went through the festivities of his inauguration with wife and two kids by his side? Well... I will be forever struck by the visions of those two little girls. So poised, so gracious, having to go through an overwhelming situation that would have had most of us on our knees begging to just be able to sit down and drink a soda in private. What about school? After all... fame or no fame... these two little girls are still the "New Kids" at school. EEEk!!! What a feeling. That feeling of walking into a new school... not knowing anyone. None of us much enjoy that.
This feeling crosses over to many things in life. Being new on the job... being new to any situation where it is the unknown. Any of these examples makes me sweat... no... not in that healthy cardio way...but in that way that taps into memories of long hallways.... florescent lighting.... muffled banter coming out of unfamiliar classrooms. For this I give kudos to our new first family and the stoic display that all four of them exhibited on that historic day.
I recently had the pleasure of working with WOR Radio on their Shining Star Talent Search. This was an east coast vocal competition open to kids ages 12-18. I acted as a judge (along side of the legendary Cousin Bruce Morrow) and was asked to write and produce the CD single for the winner. I entitled the song... "The New Kid" in honor of our two now first family New Kids!
Please enjoy this "Musical Health Talk" 5:00 minute program I wrote and produced utilizing the 2008 winner of that contest, Michelle Raitzin, together with myself. While you listen... I encourage you to get on up and walk in place at your computer to experience "Musical Health!". At 130 beats per minute (bpm) even if you are sitting in your chair... breath... inhale through the nose... exhale through the mouth... sit up nice and straight... abdominals in and up... dropping your shoulders. Enjoy and as always.... Never Stop Movin'!

M

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/MarinaAndMichelleR-Podcast.mp3Marina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-48067456817965491762009-01-20T15:25:00.001-05:002009-08-20T15:59:23.731-04:00America For Life!... what a day!How incredible that we are alive at a time to see this. All possibilities. No matter how tough the year has been with no doubt more tough days ahead... we go on. We have seen a moment in history that will forever change our country. Hold onto your health. For life is precious. No matter what your own personal beliefs, no matter what your personal choice is... we all need our health.
I urge you to move your body... walk... run or do any cardio activity you might choose!
America For Life!

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/157-BPM-AmericaForLife.mp3

Stay well and as always...

Never Stop Movin'

MMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5833216367562507167.post-34005541659502323872009-01-20T10:50:00.002-05:002009-08-20T16:00:00.080-04:00"Parents with Parents...the greatest Time of Your Life!"In 1987, after the birth of my first child, my mother unfortunately got sick with a brain condition that lead to her death a couple of years later. Since then I have had 2 more kids with one of them being a daughter. My daughter, Tess, is now 15 years old. As I watch her, oh how she reminds me of myself. How I long not to repeat many of the same patterns that got in the way of a less than perfect relationship I remember with my own mother. For we all repeat patterns. Recognizing a pattern that is emotionally unhealthy is the first step towards changing it and making it better.
Knowing how to apologize to our children when we have been out of line ourselves is as important as your child saying that they are sorry to you after being defiant.
For those of you that are moms and still have your own mom around.... treasure that. Once our mothers leave this earth there is no turning back. How I wish my mother could have known all three of my children, especially my daughter.
Being an adult who can still hold, touch & kiss one's mother is precious. What a great time of your life.
Here is a song by me to you! Enjoy it. Take a break from your computer and stretch while you listen... inhale through the nose... exhale through the mouth....

Enjoy!

...and as always...

Never Stop Movin'

click to hear.....

http://www.marinaonline.com/BlogMP3/094-BPM-TimeOfYourLife.mp3

fitness music by MARINAMarina Kamen - aka MARINAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13382242983000767158noreply@blogger.com0
